Apple Cider Festival

I was on-call today but I asked one of the other guys to take it for me for a couple of hours this afternoon. That way I could go to the Apple Cider Festival at The Bramble Ridge Orchard in Mt. Sterling. It's a small orchard but they had lots of apples and apple products. There were quite a few people there and they were making fresh baked apple pies and apple cider donuts. I had an apple cider slushy.

Their barn was turned into a retail shop and tea room.

It's a family business, we got some apple butter and blackjack jelly. The blackjack is blackberry and apple.

Apple cider donuts. They were hot out of the oven so we ate a couple. They were quite good.

More Color

Lisa took some more pictures of the fall color on her way to town yesterday. These are at the church on Wade's Mill road. When everybody gets here we'll drive up into the mountains and see more.

You may have noticed the new link on the right under "Blog List" called "The Forums". It's a forum I created to allow more interactive posting. Feel free to create new threads and if you want a forum category let me know. I might be moving the blog over to that host because they allow 5GB of space and it's free. The existing links that bring you here should all still remain working.

Playing With the Dogs

The horses were feeling frisky after their dinner. They were running around which got the dogs going. Heidi decided she was going to play with the dogs and ran back and forth along the fence with her head down next to them. It was cute. When they were done they just ran off.

Fall Color

We're starting to get some color in the trees. It's going to be beautiful. We can drive over to Powell county to see all the trees in the mountains. It's only a few minutes down the Mountain Parkway. Paris got to chase a loose cow this afternoon. She got scared though when Heidi and Sundown ran over to see what all the fuss was about. Lisa had to pick Paris up. Heidi has moved into the area between the porch and the chain link fence. She treats it like her own personal stall. She's kicked the rocks around and of course pooped all over.

Jailbreak

Horses aren't stupid. At least these two aren't. They figured out how to open the chain link gate. And somehow turned the hose on and got fresh water. They left it on, of course. Sundown had a great time running around in the big pasture.
