Kershaw

Kathy and Bill sent me a gift certificate for my birthday from Sears. I ordered a new knife and it came in today. It's a Kershaw Whirlwind. Very nice knife. I have my small pocket knife but needed a good large size folder. Lisa took my Spyderco away from me and kept it for herself. Besides this one has Ken Onion's Speedsafe assisted opening technology. That's Paris barking in the video. She was afraid of the knife.

The HDMI to DVI adapter came in today too. I was able to work on getting the media computer set up. I got the video drivers and all the video codecs installed. I'm working on the audio now. Next I'll need to get a wireless mouse/keyboard so i can sit in my chair and work the computer.

Hummers

Lisa put out the hummingbird feeder yesterday. They found it today. So far we've seen these two. They sit in the small trees in the front yard and fly in to get the food.

Sheep Show

We drove over to Mt. Sterling this evening to see the Montgomery County Fair. We chose this night because they were having the lamb show. The lambs in the show were around 6 months old. We stayed for the handler competition but left before the confirmation trials. Not that we didn't want to see but it was getting late and the bleachers were not comfortable.

The Underworld

I went into the crawlspace today to pull a cable for the home entertainment computer. It's the blue one. I'm putting a computer out by the TV so we can watch movies and other online content directly on the big TV. There are a lot of full episodes of TV shows online so we'll be able to watch them in comfort. We watched all of the Lost episodes we missed while we were moving. I got to see the season 4 finale.

Cows in the Yard! Cows in the Yard!

We got a new motion sensor for the driveway. I installed it today. I also had to fix the fence in the back so the cows would stop coming into our yard. The first time I just hung it back up but I guess they tried it again and broke it loose. Piper noticed them while we were watching TV Friday evening. She was barking out the window and we kept telling her to shut up. We should have listened to her. She was trying to tell us something.

Prepping the mounting board for the sensor. Pre-drilling the screw holes.

Yeah, I know, I would never use the term "pre-drill". There are only two states in which a hole can possibly exist. Drilled and not drilled. I was drilling pilot holes for the screws, thank you very much.

The girls got to walk down the hill to the tree line with me. It was very exciting.

Paige wandered off as usual. She came back when I called her.

Paige found a stick to chew on. She was carrying it around too. Fun on the way back up.

The tree out by the fence broke in the last big wind. We got a little rain but not enough to make a difference.

Fixing the fence.

Slow News Day

I worked in Lexington yesterday so I got home later than usual. I didn't get anything done, kind of took the afternoon off. Today was more of the same. Lisa made me French Toast for breakfast. We sat around most of the day and watched the rest of Britain's Got Talent. We thought they picked the wrong act but then we aren't British. They do have a good show if you like the talent shows. Then we went to a late lunch ( it was almost 6pm) at Sonny's BBQ in Richmond. After dinner we stopped at Radio Shack and got a new alarm for the driveway. The first one we got didn't work so we sent it back. This one is a little higher end so we have high hopes. Then we stopped at Kroger and picked up my birthday cake. It's yellow cake with chocolate butter cream frosting.

This is the tripod I got from my parents for my birthday.

These are pictures I took using the new tripod.

Screening

When we moved in the bedrooms windows didn't have any screens. I got some window screen kits and put one together today after work. I didn't have to go to Lexington today. I'll go in tomorrow and work there all day.

Measuring inside and out.

Marking and inserting the corner piece.

Squaring up the last corner. trimming the screen.

I used the anvil and a 2x4 to help tension the screen.

Finished product.

The plants are getting big in the garden.

Lisa adding water to the Doggie Dooley. The Rose of Sharons are blooming nicely.

We put a different hook out for the bird feeder. It has two hooks on it. The other one will hold the hummingbird feeder.
